Back to running the shadows, chummer. This time, we’re providing advice on how to survive all the crazy that’s going to come for you when you put yourself out there. And it is going to come for you, so yeah, you should be paying attention really closely. This book will shed some light on all the stuff everybody’s always hinting at, but only the wannabes ever really shoot their mouths off about. Check out some vetted intel on what can go wrong if you think you can get away with cutting corners on the legwork or the contact screening. Plus there’s some useful notes on what you want to consider if your poor choice of job is forcing you to leave the comfortable urban killzone and face off against hostile environments that will gank you with nothing but the weather. As usual with these Shadowrun sourcebooks, the chapters were spread out among multiple translators. I got to do ‘Filling the Gaps’ and ‘Hostile Environments’. The former has some absolutely excellent post-run debriefings, great examples of how deep the Shadowrun game setting can go if you want to start peeling back the layers of troll-with-a-gatling, cyberware-and-magic-bombs, matrix-surfing action. The latter was fun because I got to go all vet-to-the-rookies, with dire warnings and stern explanations of potential hazards. There was no text in my part of this job that was directly relevant to game mechanics, it was all pure flavour.
